COACH,
PLAYER, and PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT
COACHES
The following is a copy of
the agreement that each THYHA coach has with this
Association.
-
Coaches must be at all
games and practices or arrange for a proper substitute.
-
Coaches cannot use any
tobacco product in the locker room, on the bench or during practices or
games at any arena or at the THYHA arena.
-
Coaches cannot consume
any beverages containing alcohol, in the locker room, on the bench, during
practices or games, prior to a THYHA event. A suspension or termination will
be issued for this type of violation upon the first offense.
-
Coaches cannot use
marijuana or any illegal substance defined by law as a drug while on a team
roster for THYHA. (Except as prescribed by a physician). A violation will
constitute removal from the association.

Coaches are not allowed
to physically, emotionally, or psychologically abuse any player, parent,
spectator, game official or director. A verbal and written warning will be
issued for this type of violation upon the first offense. Depending on the
magnitude of the violation, the board can increase the consequences for a
violation to include game suspension or removal from the association.

Only registered coaches
of participating teams are allowed on the participant bench during the game.
Coaches must enforce this rule. The maximum number of managers/coaches
allowed on the bench is 4. You must hold a coaching card to be on the bench.

Only a skater of a
minimum of one level higher than team practicing will be allowed on the ice
to assist the coach in the practice, with the ok from the coach.

Coach and/or an
assistant coach are required to be in the locker room with his/her team
until the last participant has left the locker room.
Guidelines for coaches
-
A Coach’s main
objective should be to teach hockey.
-
Coaches should
understand that learning and developing hockey skills is more important than
winning.
-
Coaches are not allowed
to verbally, physically or psychologically abuse any player, coach, parent,
game official, spectators or director. All coaches will treat each other,
players, spectators and officials with respect and dignity, in language,
attitude, behavior and mannerisms. A verbal and written warning will be
issued for this type of violation upon the first offense. Depending on the
magnitude of the violation, the board can increase the consequences for a
violation to include game suspension or removal from the association.

All coaches will
encourage good sportsmanship through their actions by demonstrating positive
support for all players, parents, coaches, spectators and officials at every
team event.

All coaches will agree
to abide by USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Rules.
-
Coaches will be
available to discuss any problems with the participants and/or parents.
-
Coaches should be well
prepared for practices by having plans in writing for other coaches to
follow along.
-
Coaches are to complete
a mid-term and end-of-the-year evaluation of each player.
-
Coaches are responsible
for all communication to players/parents and it should be done in a timely
manner.
-
THYHA coaches are
subject to background checks.
-
All coaches will agree
to abide by the grievance policy set forth by the THYHA for items of
concern.
-
Coaches will develop
and present their team rules to the coaching committee and once approved
present them to their team prior to the beginning of the season.
Consequences for coaches
will be administered depending on the severity of the violation and do not have
to be administered in any certain order.

The first
time a coach is ejected from any game in a season by an on-ice or
District 11 official,
that coach will be suspended from coaching for a period of
seven (7) days to
start on the day of the ejection. If a coach is ejected from
a game for a second
time in a season that coach will be suspended from all
THYHA sponsored
events for duration of the season. THYHA-sponsored events
include practices,
games, board and membership meetings, and non-district
tournaments.
The THYHA board of
directors reserves the right to adjust the suspension pending a written appeal
by the offending coach.

PLAYERS
The following is a copy of
the agreement that each THYHA player has with this
association. Players are
expected to acknowledge acceptance of this code of conduct by
signing a similar form at
the beginning of the season.

All players are
expected to attend all scheduled team events in a punctual manner unless
they have notified the head coach.
-
Players are not allowed
to verbally, physically or psychologically abuse any player, coach, parent,
spectator, game official or director. All players will treat each other,
coaches, spectators and officials with respect and dignity, in language,
attitude, behavior and mannerisms. A verbal and written warning will be
issued for this type of violation upon the first offense. Depending on the
magnitude of the violation, the board can increase the consequences for a
violation to include game suspension or removal from the association.

All players will
encourage good sportsmanship through their actions by demonstrating positive
support for all players, parents, spectators, coaches and officials at every
team event.

All players will agree
to abide by USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Rules.
-
Only players on the
roster are allowed on the bench during scrimmages and games.
-
No player will be on
any THYHA paid ice without helmet, facemask and mouth guard.
-
All players on the
player’s bench and penalty bench must wear helmet and face mask while in the
bench areas.
-
All players will
respect the property and equipment used at any sports facility, both home
and away.
-
All players will
respect the THYHA property and equipment.
-
All players will agree
to abide by the grievance policy set forth by the THYHA for items of
concern.
-
All players agree to
follow the team rules.
Consequences for players
will be administered depending on the severity of the violation and do not have
to be administered in any certain order.

automatically suspended from playing until the incidents can be reviewed by the

PARENTS
The following is a copy of
the agreement that each THYHA parent or legal guardian has
with this association.
Parents are expected to acknowledge this code of conduct by
signing a similar form at
the beginning of the season.

Parents should make
sure that all fees and assessments are paid on time as dictated by their
player’s team manager and/or the THYHA board.
-
Parents must turn in
all necessary forms (i.e. birth certificates) promptly.
-
Parents must equip
their player properly so they can participate in all practices, scrimmages
and games.
-
Parents should keep
abreast of all information pertinent to their player team.
-
Parents should notify
the head coach in advance when their player cannot make a scrimmage, game or
practice, stating the reason.
-
Parents will encourage
good sportsmanship through their actions, by demonstrating positive support
for all players, parents, spectators, coaches and officials at every game
and practice.

All parents will agree
to abide by USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Rules.

Parents are not allowed

Players will promote
the emotional and physical well being of all the skaters, ahead of any
personal desire to win, or any personal reflected glory. This includes, but
is not limited to, supporting the coaches, officials and all others to help
provide a positive experience.

Parents need to
remember that the game is for the players and not for the parents and win or
lose, will appreciate the efforts of all players, officials and coaching
staff.
-
Parents will inform the
coach of any physical or medical ailment that may affect the safety of their
player or any other player.
-
Parents will agree to
abide by the grievance policy set forth by the THYHA for items of concern.
Guidelines for parents
-
Parents should get
their player to practices, games and scrimmages at prescribed times.
-
Parents should be
understanding and supportive of the times and number of practices,
scrimmages and games.
-
Parents should be
encouraging, not critical, of their player, coach and team.
-
Parents should try, as
much as possible, to be available to assist in the association and team
functions as requested.
Consequences for parents or
legal guardians will be administered depending on the severity of the violation
and do not have to be administered in any certain order.
